{"id":110,"date":"2012-05-27T22:43:33","date_gmt":"2012-05-27T22:43:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/novens.com\/wordpress\/?p=110"},"modified":"2012-05-30T16:17:34","modified_gmt":"2012-05-30T16:17:34","slug":"aspirin-is-still-the-wonder-drug","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/novens.com\/wordpress\/?p=110","title":{"rendered":"Aspirin is still the &#8216;Wonder Drug&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Just this month I <a href=\"http:\/\/health.usnews.com\/health-news\/news\/articles\/2012\/05\/23\/aspirin-may-prevent-recurrence-of-deep-vein-blood-clots\" target=\"_blank\">read a piece<\/a>\u00a0published in <em>U.S. News &amp; World Report<\/em> which refers to a study published in the May issue of the <em>New England Journal of Medicine <\/em>which suggests that aspirin \u201cmay reduce the recurrence of deep vein blood clots without increasing complications\u201d. The study was done at the University of Perugia in Italy. Over a two year period only 6.6% of those taking aspirin had a recurrence, whereas 11.2% of those receiving a placebo had one.<\/p>\n<p>I worked for Bayer Pharmaceutical when we had the celebration of the 100<sup>th<\/sup> year anniversary of the discovery of Aspirin which, of course, was discovered by Bayer. Since then it has been packaged and repackaged so many times. Other similar drugs have come and gone over the years. Aspirin still is the \u201cwonder drug\u201d for so many ailments. It is a safe, effective and multi-use drug.
